Mauli, Winny - Personal Name;

Background: Postoperative pain following repeat cesarean section is often more severe due to the existence of scar tissue and adhesions from previous cesarean section. One method to alleviate pain is the administration of intraperitoneal lidocaine. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of intraperitoneal lidocaine 3.5 mg/kgBW in reducing pain after a repeat cesarean section ≥ 2 times. Methods: An experimental study with a double-blind randomized controlled design was conducted with 63 patients undergoing repeat cesarean section ≥ 2 times. Patients were divided into two groups: the lidocaine group and the placebo group. Pain was measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) at 1st, 6th, 12th, and 24th hour post-surgery. Results: Placebo showed significantly higher VAS vs. lidocaine group on the 1st hour (1.41 ± 0.56 vs. 1.10 ± 0.92; p = 0.021), 6th hour (2.34 ± 0,79 vs. 1.74 ± 0.63; p = 0.001), 12th hour (3.97 ± 1.00 vs. 2.87 ± 0.67; p < 0.001), and 24th hour (4.63 ± 0.9 vs. 3.23 ± 0.76; p < 0.001). Conclusion: The administration of intraperitoneal lidocaine 3.5 mg/kgBW is effective in reducing pain after a repeat cesarean section ≥ 2 times. Keywords: lidocaine, intraperitoneal, postoperative pain, repeat cesarean section, Visual Analog Scale (VAS)
