GAMBARAN STRES AKADEMIK PADA MAHASISWA TEKNIK
Academic stress is a mental state experienced by individuals, such as feelings of anxiety, worry, and frustration, caused by academic demands that lead to fear of failure. This study aims to determine the characteristics of academic stress among students in the Faculty of Engineering. The population used in this study was students at the Faculty of Engineering. Participants in this study were 150 students. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. This study used an academic stress scale developed based on aspects of academic stress by Bedewy and Gabriel (2015), which include pressure to achieve, perceptions of workload and exams, self-perception, and time constraints. The academic stress scale consists of 39 aitems with a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0,762. The data analysis technique used was descriptive statistical analysis. The results based on the description of categorization of the research variable subjects, it is known that the level of academic stress of engineering faculty students at Sriwijaya University is in the high category with frequency of 90 people or 60%, while those in the low category with a frequency of 60 people or 40%.
