The planning and design of the Garment Market in Bukittinggi focuses on the redevelopment of Aur Kuning Market, the largest garment trade center in West Sumatra, which plays a strategic role in supporting regional economic growth but currently faces challenges such as inefficient spatial circulation, low thermal comfort due to inadequate natural ventilation and lighting, poor visual comfort caused by cramped layouts and the use of tarpaulin covers, limited supporting facilities, and sanitation and air pollution issues resulting from its proximity to the Simpang Aur Kuning terminal; therefore, the main objective of this project is to create a market that is more organized, functional, and compliant with standards while addressing the needs of traders and visitors through improvements in thermal comfort, visual comfort, and circulation, with literature reviews on markets, garment trade, and circulation, site analysis and the expected outcome being a garment market with improved spatial organization, smooth circulation, optimal lighting and ventilation, and complete supporting facilities that enhance comfort for both traders and visitors, ultimately positioning Aur Kuning Market as a modern, comfortable, sustainable, and highly competitive garment trade center for Bukittinggi.
