PENGARUH EDUKASI LEAFLET TERHADAP KEPATUHAN TERAPI DAN SELF-EFFICACY PASIEN PENYAKIT JANTUNG KORONER DI RSUD SITI FATIMAH PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN
Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a chronic condition that requires long-term therapy, in which treatment adherence plays a crucial role in achieving optimal therapeutic outcomes. Low adherence among CHD patients is often associated with low self-efficacy, which may be influenced by inadequate health education. This study aimed to analyze the effect of leaflet-based education on therapy adherence and self-efficacy, as well as the relationship between changes in both variables among CHD patients at Siti Fatimah Regional General Hospital, South Sumatra Province. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group and a prospective approach. A total of 44 CHD patients were divided into an intervention group and a control group. The intervention group received leaflet-based education accompanied by verbal explanation, while the control group received no educational intervention. Therapy adherence and self-efficacy were measured using the MMAS-8 and MASES-R questionnaires at pretest and posttest (two weeks after the intervention). The results showed a significant improvement in therapy adherence and self-efficacy in both groups, with a greater increase observed in the intervention group (p=0.000). A strong positive correlation was found between changes in self-efficacy and changes in therapy adherence (r=0.761; p=0.000). This study concludes that leaflet-based education has a significant effect on improving therapy adherence and self-efficacy among CHD patients. Future studies are recommended to explore other educational methods or combine leaflet-based education with additional educational approaches.
