ANALISIS KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS PESERTA DIDIK DALAM MENYELESAIKAN SOAL HOTS MATERI IKATAN KIMIA
This study aims to analyze students' critical thinking abilities in solving Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions on chemical bonding material and to identify the most dominant Ennis critical thinking indicators. The research was conducted at Srijaya Negara High School in Palembang during the 2025/2026 academic year, first semester, using a quantitative descriptive method. The research sample consisted of 34 students selected using purposive sampling technique. The research instruments include 8 essay questions for HOTS-based cognitive tests and interviews with teachers and several selected students. The research results show that the percentage of students' critical thinking abilities based on Ennis' indicators are as follows: providing simple explanations at 73.40%, with a moderate category; drawing conclusions at 68%, with a moderate category; and providing further explanations at 61%, also in the moderate category. The overall percentage is 67.47%, which falls into the moderate category. The most dominant indicator that emerged in this study was the indicator of providing simple explanations.
