UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIHIPERLIPIDEMIA EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN LABU SIAM (Sechium edule (Jacq.) Swartz) PADA TIKUS WISTAR JANTAN YANG DIINDUKSI DIET TINGGI LEMAK DAN FRUKTOSA
This study aimed to evaluate the antihyperlipidemic activity of the ethanolic extract of chayote leaves (Sechium edule (Jacq.) Swartz) in male Wistar rats induced with a high-fat and fructose diet. The induction was performed to establish a hyperlipidemic condition characterized by increased total cholesterol and LDL levels, along with decreased HDL levels. This study also assessed the effect of the extract on the histopathological improvement of the liver and heart tissues. The experimental animals were divided into six groups: normal control, negative control (0.5% Na-CMC), positive control (simvastatin 0.987 mg/kgBW), and three treatment groups receiving the extract at doses of 100, 200, and 400 mg/kgBW administered orally. Total cholesterol levels were analyzed using the enzymatic CHOD-PAP method, HDL levels were measured using a Cholesterol HDL Analysis Kit with a photometer, and LDL levels were calculated indirectly. The results demonstrated that all extract doses significantly (p
