UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIDIABETES EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN LABU SIAM (Sechium Edule (Jacq.) Swartz) DAN HISTOPATOLOGI PANKREAS PADA TIKUS PUTIH WISTAR JANTAN KONDISI HIPERGLIKEMIK
Chayote leaves (Sechium edule (Jacq.) Swartz) contain secondary metabolites like flavonoids, tannins, and saponins acting as antidiabetic agents through beta-cell protection. This study aimed to determine the antidiabetic activity of the ethanolic extract of chayote leaves (EECL) and evaluate its effect on pancreatic histopathology in hyperglycemic male Wistar rats. Hyperglycemia was successfully induced using a high-fat and high-fructose diet (HFFD) for thirty days. Maceration using 96% ethanol produced a yield of 13.98%. Twenty-four rats were divided into six distinct groups: normal, negative control (0.5% Na-CMC), positive control (Metformin 45 mg/kg BW), and three EECL dosage groups (100, 200, and 400 mg/kg BW).
