TINDAK TUTUR KOMISIF DALAM MEMBENTUK HUBUNGAN KARAKTER DAN ANTARKARAKTER DI FILM AGAK LAEN
This study aims to analyze the role of commissive speech acts in shaping character development and the dynamics of interpersonal relationships in the Indonesian film Agak Laen directed by Muhadkly Acho. The research is grounded in the theory of pragmatics, focusing on illocutionary commissive acts such as promises, offers, threats, and other forms of commitment that bind the speaker to future actions. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using library research methods. Data were collected through observation and note-taking of dialogues between characters in Agak Laen and analyzed based on the types and functions of commissive speech acts identified. The findings reveal that commissive speech acts serve two main functions: (1) shaping character traits through expressions of intention, determination, and responsibility, and (2) building and influencing the dynamics of interpersonal relationships among characters. Commissive utterances such as promises and offers demonstrate traits like honesty, leadership, and solidarity, while threats or prohibitions reveal hierarchical and conflictual relationships. Therefore, commissive speech acts in the film function not only as a medium of verbal communication but also as a dramatic device that strengthens narrative structure, deepens characterization, and reinforces moral and social values. This research contributes to a broader understanding of the application of pragmatic theory in audiovisual media and provides a useful reference for linguistic studies and language learning through film
