Self-disclosure refers to a form of personal openness that involves the sharing of experiences, emotions, and private information with others. In the context of social media, self-disclosure develops through the use of alter accounts that allow users to adopt identities different from their real ones, commonly associated with anonymity. Platform X (Twitter) serves as a digital space that facilitates this phenomenon, particularly through an online community known as the Marah Marah Community, which functions as a forum for emotional expression. This study aimed to analyze the practice of self-disclosure carried out by alter accounts within the Marah–Marah Community on platform X, as well as to understand how users managed privacy within a virtual community setting. This research used a qualitative method with a netnographic research approach. Data were collected through observations of posts and interactions among users within the community and were thematically analyzed using the framework of Communication Privacy Management Theory (CPMT) and Social Penetration Theory. The findings indicated that self-disclosure within the Marah–Marah Community functioned not only as a space for emotional expression but also as an arena for privacy negotiation among alter account users on platform X.
