PERANCANGAN PUSAT RISET DAN PENGEMBANGAN TANAMAN PANGAN DI KABUPATEN BANYUASIN
The Food Crop Research and Development Center in Banyuasin Regency is designed as a response to the need for research, educational, and agricultural innovation facilities that support South Sumatra’s role as a regional food hub. The main issues include the need for an effective research facility, the arrangement of building masses based on privacy levels, and the separation of public and research areas with efficient circulation, while site conditions such as the lake, infrastructure, vegetation, and road access influence the planning strategy. A modern functionalist architectural approach is applied using the principle of form follows function to organize building masses based on research, educational, administrative, and field-testing activities. The design concept includes site planning with the main entrance on Jalan Peternakan, educational zoning at the front area, a greenhouse connected to the laboratories, a mini bore-pile structural system with a green roof, and complete utilities such as a down-feed water system, wastewater treatment, and an HVAC system. Overall, the design produces an efficient and sustainable research center capable of supporting integrated research, education, and agricultural innovation activities.
