ANALISIS KESIAPSIAGAAN MASYARAKAT TERHADAP KEJADIAN KEBAKARAN DI KECAMATAN KERTAPATI KOTA PALEMBANG

Preparedness is defined as the community’s ability to anticipate, confront and respond to disasters quickly and appropriately in order to minimize disaster impacts. Preparedness is measured through five indicators, namely knowledge, attitudes, emergency response plans, early warning systems and resource mobilization. A low level of preparedness can lead to an increased risk of material losses, psychological disturbances and even fatalities, particularly in fire-prone areas. Kertapati Sub-district in Palembang City is an area where fire incidents are experienced almost every year, therefore community preparedness is considered an important factor in dealing with fire disasters. This study was aimed at analyzing community preparedness for fire incidents in Kertapati Subdistrict, Palembang City. This research was classified as quantitative research with descriptive method and cross-sectional approach. The population in this study was represented by all residents of Kertapati Sub-district, Palembang City, with a research sample of 100 people determined from the Slovin formula. The sampling technique was conducted using purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews using a questionnaire that measured five preparedness indicators. Then, data were analyzed descriptively using univariate analysis and bivariate analysis, namely the spearman rank. The results showed that respondents' preparedness for fire incidents in Kertapati Subdistrict, Palembang City, was categorized as very prepared (62%). Households with vulnerable groups as well as those without vulnerable groups were shown to have preparedness levels that were both categorized as very prepared. Based on parameters, the respondents' knowledge and attitude were placed in the prepared category with percentages of (40%) and (59%) respectively. Meanwhile, the parameters of early warning systems (84%), emergency response plans (77%) and resource mobilization (74%) were categorized as very prepared.
