ANALISIS HUBUNGAN UPAYA PENCEGAHAN KONTAK TERHADAP NYAMUK Anopheles sp DENGAN KEJADIAN MALARIA DI PROVINSI PAPUA (ANALISIS DATA SKI 2023)
Malaria remains a public health problem in Indonesia, especially in highly endemic areas such as Papua Province. The high incidence of malaria is influenced by various factors, including home environmental conditions and behaviors to prevent contact with Anopheles sp. mosquitoes. This study aims to analyze the relationship between mosquito contact prevention efforts and malaria incidence in Papua Province based on data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI). This study used a cross-sectional study design utilizing secondary data from the 2023 SKI. In this study, a sample of 4,437 SKI data sets in 2023 was used with a total sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out in stages including univariate analysis, bivariate analysis using the chi-square statistical test with a 95% confidence level based on a value of 0.05, and multivariate analysis with multiple logistic tests to determine the most dominant factors related to malaria incidence. The results of univariate analysis of a total sample of 4,437 showed that 1,463 (33%) people experienced malaria, the results of bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between the use of repellent (p-value = 0.000, PR = 1.566), the presence of wire mesh on ventilation (p-value 0.000, PR = 1.242) and the condition of the house walls (p-value = 0.000, PR = 1.822) and the results of multivariate analysis showed that sleeping using insecticide-treated mosquito nets ≥3 years (p-value = 0.027, PR = 1.171), the use of repellent (p-value = 0.000; PR = 1.584), and the condition of the house walls (p-value = 0.000; PR = 2.494) were significantly related to the incidence of malaria. The variable of the condition of the house walls was the most dominant risk factor. The conclusion of this study indicates that individual preventive behavior and the physical condition of homes play a significant role in malaria incidence in Papua Province. Therefore, malaria control efforts focused on improving housing quality and strengthening sustainable mosquito-fighting prevention behavior are needed.
