ANALISIS HUBUNGAN SANITASI DASAR DENGAN KEJADIAN DIARE PADA BALITA DI KELURAHAN 13 & 14 ULU, KOTA PALEMBANG

Diarrhea remains a common health problem among toddlers and contributes to the increasing morbidity rate. Inadequate basic household sanitation is a contributing factor to diarrhea in toddlers. Nagaswidak Community Health Center, one of the community health centers (Puskesmas) responsible for diarrhea management in Palembang City, is one of the health centers (Puskesmas) that plays a role in providing health services to treat diarrhea in the city of Palembang. The highest number of diarrhea cases among toddlers in 2025 at the Nagaswidak Community Health Center was in the 13 & 14 Ulu Villages, with 184 cases. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between basic sanitation and diarrhea incidence in toddlers in the 13 & 14 Ulu Villages, Palembang City. The study used a quantitative analytical study with a cross-sectional design. The population was all toddlers aged 0–59 months, with a sample size of 96 respondents determined using proportional random sampling. Data collection methods used primary data obtained from interviews using questionnaires and observation sheets. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate methods using the chi-square test to determine the relationship between independent variables and diarrhea incidence in toddlers. The results of the study showed a significant relationship between fecal disposal facilities (p-value = 0.005; PR = 1.821), waste management facilities (p-value = 0.000; PR = 5.294) and wastewater drainage channels (p-value = 0.002; PR = 2.110) with the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers. Meanwhile, clean water facilities (p-value = 0.613) were not significantly related to the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers. It was concluded that the incidence of diarrhea in Kelurahan 13 & 14 Ulu was influenced by toilets, waste management facilities and wastewater drainage channels that did not meet the requirements.
