HUBUNGAN UPAYA PSN (PEMBERANTASAN SARANG NYAMUK) DI RUMAH TANGGA TERHADAP PREVALENSI DEMAM BERDARAH DENGUE DI PROVINSI PAPUA TENGAH ANALISIS DATA SKI TAHUN 2023

Pasya, Nujjiya Lathifan - Personal Name;

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a public health problem in Indonesia, including Central Papua Province, which has the highest dengue prevalence nationally. Household mosquito breeding site control measures constitute the primary strategy for dengue prevention; however, the effectiveness of each specific control action still requires further evaluation. This study aimed to analyze the association between mosquito breeding site control practices and dengue prevalence and to identify the most dominant control factor in Central Papua Province. This study employed a cross-sectional design using secondary data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI), with 4,946 households as the unit of analysis. The dependent variable was dengue occurrence based on a history of diagnosis within the past 12 months, while the independent variables included mosquito breeding site control measures, namely larvicide powder application, installation of mosquito screens on house ventilation, regular cleaning of water storage containers, covering water storage containers, and elimination of discarded items. Bivariate analysis was performed using the chi-square test, followed by multivariate analysis. The results showed a dengue prevalence of 4.1%. Bivariate analysis indicated that larvicide application (p=0.000; PR=0.226), installation of mosquito screens (p=0.001; PR=0.607), covering water storage containers (p=0.000; PR=0.352), and elimination of discarded items (p=0.000; PR=0.356) were significantly associated with dengue occurrence, while cleaning of water storage containers showed no significant association (p=0.884). In the final multivariate model, measures that remained significantly associated with dengue occurrence were larvicide application (APR=0.310; 95% CI: 0.215–0.446), covering water storage containers (APR=0.591; 95% CI: 0.420–0.830), and elimination of discarded items (APR=0.497; 95% CI: 0.360–0.687). Larvicide application was identified as the most dominant mosquito breeding site control factor in reducing dengue prevalence in Central Papua Province. Therefore, the integrated implementation of household mosquito breeding site control measures acts as a protective factor against dengue occurrence, although the observed relationships are associative rather than causal.
