HUBUNGAN TINGKAT PENGETAHUAN DAN PAPARAN MEDIA SOSIAL TENTANG ROKOK DENGAN PERILAKU MEROKOK PADA REMAJA DI SMK LINGUA PRIMA
Smoking behavior among adolescents remains a critical public health challenge due to its detrimental effects on physical, psychological, and social well-being, often persisting into adulthood. This study aimed to analyze the association between knowledge level, cigarette-related social media exposure, and smoking behavior among students at SMK Lingua Prima. A quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted. A total of 154 students were recruited using a total sampling technique. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses. The majority of respondents were 16 years old. Findings revealed that 62.3% of respondents were smokers, predominantly using conventional cigarettes (58.4%) with low smoking intensity (51.3%). A high percentage of respondents (85.1%) had family members who smoked, and TikTok was the most frequently accessed social media platform (45.7%). Furthermore, 81.8% of respondents exhibited poor knowledge, and 90,3% were exposed to cigarette-related content on social media. Statistical analysis showed that knowledge level (p = 0.033) and social media exposure (p = 0.007) were significantly associated with smoking behavior. Targeted health education and the utilization of school social media platforms as channels for disseminating educational content are needed to reduce smoking behavior among adolescents
