KEANEKARAGAMAN SERANGGA FITOFAG TERHADAP PERTANAMAN TERONG (Solanum melongena) DENGAN DAN TANPA TANAMAN REFUGIA KENIKIR (Cosmos caudatus)
The presence of refugia plants plays an important role in maintaining the balance of insect communities in agroecosystems. This study aims to analyze the effect of planting Cosmos caudatus refugia on the diversity, abundance, and population characteristics of phytophagous insects in eggplant (Solanum melongena) cultivation. The research was conducted on two treatments: eggplant cultivation without marigold refugia and with marigold refugia, using pitfall traps and pan traps for 10 weeks. The results showed that refugia can influence the structure of the phytophagous insect community. In pitfall traps, the number of individuals increased in the treatment with refugia, but the number of species decreased, while in pan traps, the number of individuals was higher in the treatment without refugia, but species diversity was greater in the treatment with marigold refugia. The values of the diversity index, dominance, and evenness indicate that the marigold cover crop has an effect between treatments, where the cover crop tends to improve the balance of the insect community. Additionally, the eggplant yield on land with refugia, 2,874,9 kg, was higher than without refugia, 2005,2 kg. Overall, the marigold refugia crop was proven effective in supporting natural pest control and increasing eggplant productivity.
