UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN EKSTRAK AIR SIMPLISIA DAUN SUNGKAI (Peronema canescens Jack.)
Sungkai leaves (Peronema canescens Jack.) have potential as a raw material for herbal tea and as a natural source of antioxidants. This study aimed to determine the total phenolic and flavonoid contents, antioxidant activity, and quality parameters of sungkai leaf simplicia tea compared with gambir leaf tea, soursop leaf tea, and commercial tea. The samples were dried, ground, and brewed using hot water at 90 °C for 5 minutes. Total phenolic and flavonoid contents were analyzed using the Folin–Ciocalteu and aluminum chloride methods, respectively, while antioxidant activity was evaluated using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP) methods. The aqueous extract of sungkai leaves showed a total phenolic content of 34.615 mgGAE/g and a total flavonoid content of 1.910 mgQE/g. Antioxidant activity analysis using the DPPH method yielded an IC₅₀ value of 3.444 μg/mL, whereas the FRAP method showed a Trolox Equivalent (TE) value of 29.19 mgTE/g. Quality parameter analysis of sungkai leaf simplicia indicated a moisture content of 9.76%, and heavy metal contamination levels of Pb
