PENGARUH EDUKASI TERHADAP KEPATUHAN DAN KUALITAS HIDUP PASIEN HIPERTIROID DI RSUD SITI FATIMAH PALEMBANG PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN
Hyperthyroidism is a chronic endocrine disorder requiring long-term treatment; therefore, medication adherence plays an important role in therapeutic success and quality of life improvement. Lack of education may lead to poor adherence and negatively affect patients’ condition. This study aimed to analyze the effect of educational intervention on medication adherence and quality of life among hyperthyroid patients at RSUD Siti Fatimah Palembang. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest non-equivalent control group approach. A total of 40 hyperthyroid patients were divided into control and intervention groups. Medication adherence was measured using the MMAS-8 questionnaire, and quality of life was assessed using WHOQOL-BREF before and after the educational intervention. The results showed that education significantly increased medication adherence by 26.61% (p = 0.000) and improved quality of life by 19.46% (p = 0.000). Educational intervention had a significant effect in the form of increased adherence scores and improved quality of life scores. There is a positive relationship between changes in medication adherence and quality of life among hyperthyroid patients, where an increase in adherence is associated with an improvement in patients’ quality of life. This study concludes that education is effective in improving medication adherence and quality of life among hyperthyroid patients.
