PENGARUH PEMBERIAN ASAM GIBERELAT (GA3) TERHADAP KOMPOSISI FRAKSI SERAT RUMPUT PAKCHONG (Pennisetum Purpureum cv. Thailand)
Pakchong grass are high quality varieties with good nutritional content, such as NDF 72.2%-73.2%, ADF 43.6%-45.7%, hemicellulose 22%-26%, cellulose 20%-25%, and lignin 3%-6%. The application of the hormone Gibberellic Acid (GA3) can accelerate the growth rate of the plant. This study aims to determine the effect of applying GA3 with doses ranging from 200 ppm/L to 800 ppm/L on the fiber fractions of Pakchong grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv Thailand). The research used a randomized block design (RAK) with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The variables observed were NDF, ADF, hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin contents. Treatments included G0 = Control (no treatment), G1 = GA3 200 ppm/L, G2 = GA3 400 ppm/L, G3 = GA3 600 ppm/L, and G4 = GA3 800 ppm/L. The analysis showed that the GA3 dose of 400 ppm/L (treatment G2) had a significant effect by increasing NDF and hemicellulose contents while decreasing ADF, cellulose, and lignin contents in Pakchong.grass GA3 application is suspected to promote growth and alter the composition of the plant cell wall, thus improving the quality of the forage. In conclusion, the optimal GA3 dose to improve the fiber quality of Rumput Pakchong is 400 ppm/L. Further research is recommended to conduct in vivo digestibility tests on ruminant livestock.
