ANALISIS PENGARUH BIDANG DISKONTINUITAS TERHADAP FRAGMENTASI HASIL PELEDAKAN PADA PELEDAKAN PIT QUARRY PT BUKIT ASAM (PERSERO) TBK
This research was conducted at the Pit Quarry of PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk, specifically in the andesite mining area of Bukit Tapuan, with the objective of analyzing the influence of discontinuity plane orientation on the throw direction and fragmentation size distribution resulting from blasting activities. The research method included field observations using scanline mapping to obtain discontinuity characteristics such as strike, dip, and spacing. The orientation data were analyzed using DIPS software, while the actual fragmentation distribution was analyzed using WipFrag and compared with the Kuz-Ram theoretical model. The results show that the dominant joint orientation ranges from N346°E to N43°E with an average dip of 70° and an average spacing of 1.2 m. The relationship between joint orientation and free face direction indicates that blasting aligned with the dip direction produces finer fragmentation, whereas the into-face condition results in coarser fragmentation dominated by boulders, with a P85 value of 112.3 cm. It can be concluded that discontinuity orientation significantly affects the distribution of blasting energy and fragmentation results. Therefore, blasting geometry design that considers dominant geological structures is necessary to improve blasting effectiveness and loading productivity.
