MOTIF JEPANG DALAM PEMBERIAN BANTUAN PEMBANGUNAN ENERGI TERBARUKAN DI INDONESIA MELALUI JUST ENERGY TRANSITION PARTNERSHIP (JETP)

Driven by humanity's growing need for energy, where increased energy use has led to a rise in greenhouse gases that pose a threat to humans, the international community has been compelled to immediately transition to renewable energy. As a country with a high dependence on coal, Indonesia has joined the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) initiative. Japan leads this initiative and provides assistance for renewable energy development in Indonesia through it. This study uses the concept of foreign aid motives developed by Carol Lancaster, focusing on four main motives, namely diplomacy, development, humanitarianism, and commercialism. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques based on literature and documentation studies. The results show that Japan's foreign aid through JETP for renewable energy development in Indonesia fulfills three of the four main motives for foreign aid, namely: diplomacy motive, development motive, and commercial motive. Meanwhile, the humanitarian motive is not fulfilled.
