PENGARUH PEMBERIAN ADSORBEN CANGKANG KELAPA SAWIT TERAKTIVASI DAN TIDAK TERAKTIVASI TERHADAP KARAKTERISTIK MINYAK CURAH
This study aimed to utilize activated palm shell charcoal as an adsorbent in the purification of bulk oil to improve its quality. This study used a completely randomized factorial design (CRBD) with two treatment factors and three replications. Treatment factor A (adsorbent type) consisted of two treatments: activated palm shell charcoal and unactivated palm shell charcoal, while treatment B (charcoal concentration) consisted of five levels (0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, and 8%). The parameters observed were physical characteristics (color, viscosity, and clarity), and chemical characteristics (free fatty acids and water content). The results showed that the addition of palm shell adsorbent to bulk oil purification significantly affected color, viscosity, clarity, and free fatty acids. The best treatment was selected based on the lowest statistical value for each parameter and adsorbent concentration, namely treatment A2B3 (4% addition of activated palm kernel shell adsorbent) with color values of 3.79; viscosity of 72.83; free fatty acid content of 0.8; water content of 0.07; and clarity of 0.43.
