POTENSI EKSTRAK ETANOL RUMPUT MUTIARA (Hedyotis corymbosa L.) DALAM PEMULIHAN DAYA INGAT MENCIT (Mus musculus L.) DAN SUMBANGANNYA PADA PEMBELAJARAN BIOLOGI SMA
Memory decline is a cognitive problem that can be triggered by oxidative stress due to free radical activity. Pearl grass (Hedyotis corymbosa L.) is known to contain flavonoids and phenolic acids that have the potential to restore memory through antioxidant and neuroprotective effects. This study aimed to determine the effect of ethanol extract of pearl grass on restore memory in Swiss Webster strain mice induced by 10% alcohol and to determine its effective dose using an experimental method with a control and treatment group design, where mice were divided into five groups: negative control (0.5% Na-CMC), positive control (piracetam 200 mg/kg BW), and treatment doses of pearl grass extract 100 mg/kg BW, 400 mg/kg BW, and 800 mg/kg BW which were given orally for 3 consecutive days, then memory was measured using the Radial Arm Maze (RAM) test with memory score parameters as an indicator of the mice's memory ability which was analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Duncan's test at 1% significance, where the research results showed that the administration of pearl grass extract at a dose of 400 mg/kg BW significantly restored memory in mice compared to the negative control (p < 0.01). Thus, the ethanol extract of pearl grass has the potential as an effective natural agent in restoring memory function in mice with an effective dose of 400 mg/kg BW. These findings can support the development of natural ingredients for memory disorder therapy as well as interactive learning media in the field of high school Biology.
