ANALISIS DETERMINAN DERAJAT KEPARAHAN PENYAKIT PADA PENDERITA PERTUSIS DI PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN
The severity of pertussis in South Sumatra Province, characterized by the appearance of apnea symptoms, is also a cause of death in patients with a CFR > 6%. This study aims to analyze the determinants of disease severity in pertussis patients in South Sumatra Province using secondary data from the South Sumatra Provincial Health Office from 2022-2024 with a cross-sectional study design. The study sample consisted of 197 respondents who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Bivariat analysis using the chi-square test showed a significant relationship between age (p-value = 0,022; PR 2,02), immunization (p-value = 0,032; PR 3,97) and antibiotic administration (p-value = 0,025; PR 1,93) with severe pertussis. The result of multivariate analysis showed that variable of immunization completeness (p-value = 0,027; PR 5,45) was the most dominant variable in influencing disease severity after being controlled for the variable of age (p-value = 0,807; PR 1,13). The conclusion of this study is that providing complete immunizations according to the child's age is very important to prevent the severity and mortality of pertussis disease. In addition, relevant institutions can also increase education to parents about the importance of providing complete and timely DPT immunization.
