PENGARUH FORMASI KELOMPOK GEOSYNTHETIC ENCASED STONE COLUMN (GESC) TERHADAP DAYA DUKUNG PONDASI PADA TANAH GAMBUT
Peat soil has low bearing capacity, high compressibility, and low shear strength, requiring soil improvement before being used as a construction foundation. One of the methods used is the Geosynthetic Encased Stone Column (GESC), which is a stone column wrapped with geosynthetic material to increase soil bearing capacity. This study aims to analyze the effect of GESC group formation variations on improving the bearing capacity of peat soil through experimental testing using a 1:15 scale physical model with eight square and triangular pattern variations. The analysis was carried out using the Tangent Intersection and Chin methods to determine the ultimate bearing capacity (Qult) and the Bearing Capacity Ratio (BCR). The results showed that the bearing capacity increased from 1.678 kPa to 35.055 kPa in the best variation, P4 (4x4 square formation, 2d spacing), with a BCR value of 20.896. Therefore, GESC proved to be effective in increasing the bearing capacity of peat soil, especially with closer column spacing.
