Ananta, Ananda Varissa Auliya - Personal Name;

ANANDA VARISSA AULIYA ANANTA. Performance Test of Coconut Husk Decomposer Blade on Semi-Automatic Machine Type G50-BRT (Supervised by TAMARIA PANGGABEAN). The performance test of the coconut husk decomposer blade on the semi-automatic machine type G50-BRT has been conducted. Coconut husk is an agricultural waste that can be utilized into valuable products such as Cocopeat, Cocofiber, and cocobristle. Manual processing of coconut husk requires considerable time and labor; therefore, a coconut husk decomposing machine is needed to improve production efficiency. This study used a semi-automatic coconut husk decomposing machine type G50-BRT with treatments of coconut husk type and soaking duration. The study employed a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) 2 × 6 with three replications. The first factor was coconut husk type consisting of young coconut husk (S1) and old coconut husk (S2), while the second factor was soaking duration consisting of 0 hours (P0), 6 hours (P1), 12 hours (P2), 24 hours (P3), 36 hours (P4), and 48 hours (P5). This study aimed to determine the effect of coconut husk type and soaking duration on the performance of the decomposer blade and to determine the best treatment combination. The observed parameters included theoretical working capacity, effective working capacity, separation efficiency of Cocopeat, Cocofiber, and cocobristle, effective energy consumption, and moisture content. The results showed that the machine had a theoretical working capacity of 70 kg/hour. The best treatment was obtained from old coconut husk with 48 hours soaking duration (S2P5), producing 7.49 kg of Cocopeat, 4.55 kg of Cocofiber, and 7.72 kg of cocobristle. This treatment also produced the highest separation efficiencies, namely 74.93% for Cocopeat, 45.50% for Cocofiber, and 77.20% for cocobristle. Analysis of variance showed that the treatments had a highly significant effect on the decomposition results of coconut husk.
