PENGARUH MONOPOLI EDUKASI KESEHATAN GIGI (MONODUGI) TERHADAP PENGETAHUAN KONSUMSI GULA TAMBAHAN PADA ANAK DI SDN 157 PALEMBANG
Background: Dental caries was one of the most common chronic diseases among schoolaged children, with prevalence rates of 84.8% in children aged 5–9 years and 63.8% in those aged 10–14 years based on the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey. High consumption of added sugar and low levels of knowledge regarding its impact on oral health were identified as contributing factors. This condition highlighted the importance of effective educational interventions from an early age. The use of interactive learning media was considered effective in improving children's engagement and understanding of health information, including the Dental Health Education Monopoly Game (MONODUGI). Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of MONODUGI on knowledge of added sugar consumption among children aged 10–11 years at State Elementary School 157 Palembang. Methods: This study employed a quantitative approach with a preexperimental one-group pre-test post-test design involving 100 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a 10-item questionnaire administered before and after the intervention and were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. Results: The results showed an increase in knowledge after the intervention; the proportion of good knowledge increased from 42% to 94%, the median score increased from 70 to 100, and a statistically significant difference was observed with a p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The MONODUGI educational media had a significant effect on improving children's knowledge regarding added sugar consumption and oral health.
