PERSEPSI GENERASI MUDA TERHADAP PELESTARIAN TRADISI KUMPUL SANAK DI DESA BERINGIN LUBAI
This study aims to examine young people’s perceptions of the preservation of the Kumpul Sanak Tradition in Beringin Village, Lubai District, Muara Enim Regency, which is motivated by social and cultural changes resulting from modernization that may affect young people’s interest and involvement in maintaining local traditions. The study employs a qualitative approach using an ethnographic method to gain an in-depth understanding of young people’s views and experiences within the context of community social life. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, involving the village head, traditional leaders, religious leaders, and young people as research informants. The findings indicate that, in general, young people hold positive perceptions of the Kumpul Sanak Tradition and view it as an important means of strengthening kinship ties, maintaining cultural identity, and fostering values of togetherness, although its preservation faces challenges such as the influence of social media, the busy activities of young people, and changes in patterns of social interaction. Nevertheless, the active involvement of some young people demonstrates the potential sustainability of this tradition if supported by families, community leaders, and the village government.
