This study examines the motives of female university students who use a women-only motorcycle taxi service (DisJek) in creating a sense of safety in public spaces. It aims to identify the because motives, in order to motives, and the meaning of safety as perceived by female university students who use DisJek. A descriptive qualitative method with Alfred Schutz's phenomenological approach was employed in this study. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review. The findings indicate that the because motives stem from negative experiences while using mixed-gender motorcycle taxi services, including verbal and physical harassment and situational threats that generated feelings of insecurity. Meanwhile, the in order to motives for using DisJek are to obtain a sense of safety, comfort, freedom, and trust during mobility in public spaces. Female university students interpret the sense of safety as the existence of interaction boundaries, respect for privacy, and social proximity that provide greater comfort and protection throughout their journey.
