ANALISIS PENGARUH INTRUSI TERHADAP PERUBAHAN KUALITAS BATUBARA DI PIT A, PT. BUKIT ASAM TBK., TANJUNG ENIM, SUMATERA SELATAN
This study is motivated by the presence of igneous intrusions within the coal mining area of Pit A, PT Bukit Asam Tbk., Tanjung Enim, South Sumatra, which potentially affect coal quality and rank within the Muara Enim Formation. Intrusions such as sills and dikes can alter the physical and chemical characteristics of coal through thermal metamorphism, making it important to understand their impact in order to support optimal resource management. The objective of this study is to analyze the effect of igneous intrusions on changes in coal quality and rank through several approaches, including seam correlation based on well log and core data, analysis of coal quality parameters (ash, calorific value, fixed carbon, inherent moisture, and volatile matter), identification of the relationship between intrusions and geological structures, and modeling of coal quality distribution. The methods used in this research include analysis of geophysical well logs (gamma ray and density), core description, structural geology analysis using software such as Dips and Win Tensor, and coal quality analysis based on proximate data. All datasets were then integrated and modeled using Leapfrog software to generate geological models and spatial distributions of coal quality influenced by intrusions. The results show that igneous intrusions have a significant thermal effect on locally increasing coal rank. This is indicated by higher calorific value and fixed carbon, as well as lower inherent moisture and volatile matter in areas closer to the intrusion. Geological structures, particularly faults, also play a role as pathways for intrusions and in controlling heat distribution. The modeling results indicate a zonation of coal quality, where higher-quality coal is generally found near the intrusion and gradually decreases with distance, although local anomalies may occur due to overheating effects.
