AKTIVITAS ANTIDIABETES FRAKSI DAUN SAMBUNG NYAWA (Gynura procumbens) TERHADAP TIKUS JANTAN WISTAR TERINDUKSI DIET TINGGI LEMAK - FRUKTOSA DAN STREPTOZOTOCIN
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia due to impaired insulin secretion, insulin resistance, or a combination of both. This condition can lead to various complications if not optimally managed. One diabetes control effort that continues to be developed is the use of medicinal plants with antidiabetic potential. The leaves of the sambung nyawa (Gynura procumbens) are known to contain bioactive compounds that have the potential to lower blood glucose levels and repair pancreatic β-cell damage. This study aims to determine the antidiabetic activity of the n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol fractions of the leaves of the sambung nyawa in male white rats induced by diabetes using a combination of a high-fat-fructose diet and streptozotocin. This study used an experimental method with a treatment group design. The rats were divided into several groups: a normal group, a negative control group, a positive control group, and a treatment group, each of which was given the n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol fractions at a dose of 500 mg/kg body weight. The parameters observed included body weight, blood glucose levels, percentage of decrease in blood glucose levels (%PKGD), Area Under Curve (AUC) values, and pancreatic histopathology. The results showed that administration of the n-hexane fraction resulted in the most statistically significant decrease in blood glucose levels (
