BIODIVERSITAS SUMBER DAYA IKAN DEMERSAL MENGGUNAKAN BOTTOM GILLNET DI PERAIRAN BANYUASIN SUMATERA SELATAN
Banyuasin waters are a productive coastal area in South Sumatra with high potential for demersal fish resources. Increasing fishing activities may affect resource sustainability if not managed properly. This study aimed to identify species, analyze the composition and abundance, and assess the biodiversity of demersal fish caught using a bottom gillnet. The research was conducted in September 2024 using a fishing survey method with seven fishing trips. The results recorded 19 species belonging to 14 families. The dominant main catch species was Pampus argenteus (17 ind/ha), the highest bycatch was Pateobatis fai (24 ind/ha), and the most common discard species was Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda (5 ind/ha). The Shannon–Wiener diversity index (H’=2.00) indicated moderate diversity, evenness was high (E’=0.83), and dominance was low (C=0.26), suggesting a relatively stable demersal fish community.
