The Affan Kurniawan tragedy caused a decline in public trust and damage to the image of the Police institution. This situation placed the Police in a crisis, so it is necessary for the Police to improve the institution's image to restore public trust. Instagram became one of the media used by the Police to improve the institution's image. This study was conducted to analyze the content of Instagram @divisihumaspolri in efforts to repair the image of the Police after the Affan Kurniawan tragedy, using the image repair theory proposed by William L. Benoit as the theoretical basis. This study uses a qualitative approach with content analysis methods on 70 Instagram posts from @divisihumaspolri during the period of August 29–September 16, 2025. The research data were obtained through observation of Instagram content and interviews with the Head of the Public Information Division of the South Sumatra Police Public Relations as supporting data to strengthen the analysis results. The findings of this study indicate that the Indonesian National Police predominantly use humanistic messages, empathetic messages, and professionalism values in constructing image repair messages on Instagram posts. In the context of image repair theory, the police use various image repair strategies, such as bolstering by highlighting the police's performance in providing assistance to the community, serving the community, showing empathy to victims, and the institution's professionalism; attack accuser by diverting public attention to social stability issues; corrective action through communicating commitments to improvement; and mortification through expressing empathy and apologies.
