SELF-DISCLOSURE DALAM MEDIA SOSIAL X: PENGUNGKAPAN EMOSI GENERASI Z DALAM RUANG AMAN
The research entitled “Self-Disclosure in Social Media X: Generation Z’s Emotional Disclosure in Safe Space” aims to describe the forms of self-disclosure carried out by Generation Z and analyze how the Mau Nangis Aja community constructs an emotional safe space in social media X. The research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews with five Generation Z informants who are active in the Mau Nangis Aja community, observation, and documentation. The main theory used is Sidney M. Jourard’s Self-Disclosure Theory (1971) which emphasizes self-disclosure as part of interpersonal communication. The results of the study indicate that self-disclosure formed within the Mau Nangis Aja community encompasses five main aspects: relationships, economics, education, work, and health. The Mau Nangis Aja community constructs an emotionally safe space through the use of anonymous accounts, norms of empathy, supportive responses between users, and minimal negative judgment. The interactions built within the community create a sense of acceptance, security, and mutual understanding for its members. This study shows that social media X functions not only as a means of communication but also as an emotionally safe space for Generation Z to express feelings and seek social support. This research is expected to serve as a reference in the development of digital interpersonal communication studies and the use of digital communities as spaces that provide emotional support to Generation Z.
