KOMUNIKASI PARTISIPATIF BUJANG GADIS OGAN ILIR DALAM MENGAKTUALISASIKAN DESA EKOWISATA BURAI

The development of ecotourism villages requires active community involvement through dialogic and inclusive communication processes. Burai Ecotourism Village in Ogan Ilir Regency possesses significant cultural and environmental potential; however, its transformation into a leading destination demands the role of communication actors, including regional tourism ambassadors. In this context, Bujang Gadis Ogan Ilir acts as a bridge between the community and the government. This study aims to examine how participatory communication conducted by Bujang Gadis Ogan Ilir contributes to the actualization of Burai Ecotourism Village. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using Jan Servaes’ participatory communication framework. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation study involving informants from Bujang Gadis Ogan Ilir, the Ogan Ilir Tourism Office, local tourism entrepreneurs, and the Burai Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis). Data validity was ensured through triangulation. The findings indicate that participatory communication was implemented gradually through formal and informal interactions. Community participation emerged in planning and implementing tourism activities, while empowerment was reflected in education, promotional assistance, and tourism awareness. Accessibility and accountability appeared in expanded information dissemination and stakeholder transparency. These practices supported cultural preservation, environmental sustainability, and local economic benefits. The study concludes that Bujang Gadis Ogan Ilir functions as both a communication facilitator and a tourism promotion agent.
