PENGARUH BELANJA DAERAH PADA SEKTOR KESEHATAN, PENDIDIKAN DAN SOSIAL TERHADAP TINGKAT KEMISKINAN DI WILAYAH PROVINSI SUMBAGSEL

Poverty remains a development issue in the Province of Southern Sumatra (Sumbagsel). Differences in poverty rates between provinces indicate development inequality and the effectiveness of regional budget management. One government effort to reduce poverty is through increasing regional spending in the health, education, and social sectors to improve public welfare. This study aims to analyze the effect of regional spending in the health, education, and social sectors on poverty levels in the Province of South Sumatra. This study uses secondary data in the form of panel data from five provinces in the South Sumatra region: South Sumatra, Lampung, Jambi, Bengkulu, and the Bangka Belitung Islands, for the period 2014–2024. Data were obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the Directorate General of Fiscal Balance (DJPK). The analytical method used was panel data regression with a Random Effects Model (REM) approach. The results show that regional spending in the health and education sectors has a negative and significant effect on poverty levels. Meanwhile, regional spending in the social sector has a negative but relatively small effect on poverty levels. Simultaneously, all three variables significantly influence poverty levels in the Province of South Sumatra.
