The ability to recognize hijaiyyah letters is a fundamental skill that needs to be developed from an early age as a foundation for reading the Qur’an. However, observations at TK Negeri Pembina Pemulutan Barat showed that children aged 5–6 still experienced difficulties distinguishing the shapes and sounds of hijaiyyah letters due to conventional learning methods and less engaging media. This classroom action research aimed to improve hijaiyyah letter recognition skills through the use of flashcards designed to suit the learning characteristics of young children. The study was conducted in two cycles using the Kemmis and McTaggart model with 13 children from group B3 as participants and one teacher as a collaborator. The findings indicate a significant improvement from the initial condition, in which only 15.38% of the children were in the “developing as expected” (BSH) category. After the use of flashcards in cycle I, the percentage increased to 53.85%, and further improvement was seen in cycle II, with 23.08% of the children in the BSH category and 76.92% achieving the “very well developed” (BSB) category. Thus, flashcards are proven to be effective in improving hijaiyyah letter recognition skills in early childhood. Keywords: Ability to Recognize Hijaiyyah Letters, Flashcards, Early Childhood.
