KEMAMPUAN SISWA SMP MENYELESAIKAN SOAL CERITA MELALUI FRAMEWORK PEMODELAN MATEMATIKA PADA MATERI SPLDV

This study aims to determine the ability of junior high school students to solve story problems through a mathematical modeling framework on SPLDV material. The research subjects were 30 ninth-grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Prabumulih. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling categorizing students into high, medium, and low abilities. This study used a descriptive approach with data collection through written tests and interviews. The written test was used to determine students' ability to solve story problems with mathematical modeling frameworks while determining 3 research subjects for the interview stage. The interview aimed to obtain further information about knowing or strengthening students' solutions from the results of the tests that had been conducted. The data obtained were then analyzed descriptively by grouping students' answers based on mathematical modeling indicators. The results of the test research showed that the category of high student ability with a percentage of 13%, medium student ability with a percentage of 13% and low student ability with a percentage of 73%. So the results of the study indicate that students' abilities in solving story problems through a mathematical modeling framework still vary. Some students are able to understand problems and form mathematical models well, but there are still students who have difficulty in determining mathematical models and interpreting them in real situations. These findings indicate that students' ability to solve story problems using the mathematical modeling framework in the SPLDV material is still categorized as low, so more focused mathematics learning is needed to train students in identifying mathematical concepts.
