SINTESIS, KARAKTERISASI, DAN VALIDASI SENYAWA BASA SCHIFF BENZALDEHIDA-2,4-DINITROFENILHIDRAZON SEBAGAI SENSOR ANION KARBONAT
This study aimed to synthesize and evaluate a Schiff base compound, benzaldehyde-2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone (BDPH), as a colorimetric sensor for carbonate anions. The compound was obtained through a condensation reaction with a yield of 91.86%. FT-IR characterization indicated the presence of an imine (C=N) group at 1618 cm-1, XRD analysis revealed a crystalline nature, and the ¹H-NMR (δ 8,70 ppm) and ¹³C-NMR (δ 144,43 ppm) spectra confirmed the formed molecular structure. Sensor testing showed a bathochromic shift in the maximum absorption wavelength from 390 to 495 nm accompanied by a color change from yellow to red in response to carbonate anions. Optimum conditions were achieved at pH 7 with a response time of 30 minutes and a detection limit of 0.001 M. Method validation produced an LOD of 0.0058 M, LOQ of 0.01691 M, precision of 1.01%, and accuracy of 98%. These results indicate that BDPH exhibits good analytical performance and has strong potential to be developed as a simple, selective, and effective colorimetric sensor for carbonate anions in environmental analysis applications. Keywords: Schiff base, BDPH, colorimetric sensor, carbonate anion, method validation.a
