EFEK PEMBERIAN TERAPI KRIM EKSTRAK CENTELLA ASIATICA TERHADAP KADAR TRANSFORMING GROWTH FACTOR βETA 1 (TGF- β1) PADA PENYEMBUHAN LUKA AKUT TIKUS PUTIH GALUR WISTAR
Background: : Centella asiatica has long been used as a wound-healing agent due to its triterpenoid content, which possesses anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antifibrotic properties . During the wound healing process, TGF- β regulates re-epithelialization, inflammation, angiogenesis, and granulation tissue formation. Centella asiatica has been shown to decrease TGF-β 1, and contribute to the prevention of scars or keloids. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of topical Centella asiatica cream at concentrations of 0.5%, 1%, and 2% on TGF-β1 expression in acute wound healing in Wistar rats. Method: An experimental study of post-test only with control group design in vivo was undertaken at the Animal House and the Biotechnology Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine, Sriwijaya University. There were 5 groups (without treatment, Centella asiatica extract cream 0.5%, 1%, 2% and placebo cream) with 5 rats per group. To compare the effectiveness between groups, the Independent T test was used, followed by the Oneway ANOVA and Post Hoc LSD tests to analyze the suitability between the five groups. Results: In this study, the highest TGF-β1 results were found in the group of rats given placebo and the lowest TGF-β1 results were found in the group of rats given 1% Centella Asiatica cream. Bivariately, there was a difference in TGF-β1 between the 1% Centella Asiatica cream group and the untreated group, placebo, and 2% Centella Asiatica cream (P < 0.05) and from the results of the multivariate test, it was found that there was a difference in TGF-β1 between the 1% Centella Asiatica cream group and the untreated and placebo groups (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Centella Asiatica cream 1% is most effective in preventing increased TGF-β1 in the palpebra of white rats of the Wistar strain in the acute wound model.
