PERTUMBUHAN DAN HASIL TANAMAN BAWANG MERAH (ALLIUM ASCOLANICUM L.) VARIETAS TAJUK TERHADAP FREKUENSI PENYIRAMAN YANG BERBEDA

Rolia, Winsi - Personal Name;

Shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) Tajuk variety is a horticultural crop with significant economic value. Water availability is a crucial factor during its growth and bulb filling stages. This study aimed to determine the effect of irrigation frequency on the growth and yield of the Tajuk shallot variety grown in polybags. The research was carried out in a plastic greenhouse at Sriwijaya University, using a Factorial Randomized Block Design with 3 replications and 4 plants per experimental unit, so there were 48 plants tested. The watering frequency treatments consisted of 4 levels: P1 (watered twice a day, morning and afternoon), P2 (watered once a day in the morning), P3 (watered once a day in the afternoon), and P4 (watered once every 2 days in the morning). Each treatment applied a water volume of 300 ml per polybag. The results showed that watering frequency had a significant effect on plant height at 3 and 4 weeks after planting (WAP), leaf temperature at 8 WAP, soil temperature at 6, 7, and 8 WAP. Treatment P1 produced the tallest plants with an average height of 36.75 cm at 8 WAP, while P4 had the shortest plants with an average height of 12.21 cm at 1 WAP. For leaf temperature, P4 resulted in the highest average temperature of 36.57 °C at 8 WAP, whereas P1 produced the lowest temperature of 26.93 °C at 7 WAP. In terms of soil temperature, P4 yielded the highest average temperature of 40.49 °C at 7 WAP, while P1 had the lowest temperature of 28.73 °C at 5 WAP. Treatment P1 resulted in the best growth and yield because it provided stable water and nutrient availability to support cell elongation and bulb enlargement in the Tajuk shallot variety.
