ADVOKASI TRANSNASIONAL DALAM PERLINDUNGAN KUKANG DI THAILAND MELALUI LOVE WILDLIFE FOUNDATION
Illegal trade, poaching, and habitat destruction have placed slow lorises (Nycticebus spp.) at risk of extinction despite their protection under Thailand’s national regulations and international regimes such as CITES, highlighting a gap between policy and implementation. The objective of this study is to analyze the rationale behind the Love Wildlife Foundation’s (LWF) use of transnational advocacy in the conservation of slow lorises in Thailand. The method used is a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis, employing the Complex Interdependence theory by Keohane and Nye. The results indicate that transnational advocacy is undertaken due to the state’s limited capacity for law enforcement and the low priority given to environmental issues. LWF plays a role through public campaigns, education, information provision, and collaboration with both national and international actors. Thus, transnational advocacy serves as an effective strategy to strengthen slow loris protection through multi-actor interactions based on networks and international norms Keywords: Transnasional Advocacy, LWF, Slow Lorises, Complex Interdepedence, Thailand.
