PERSEPSI SISWA TERHADAP PENYELESAIAN SOAL CERITA BARISAN ARITMETIKA MENGGUNAKAN TAHAPAN PEMODELAN MATEMATIKA
This study was motivated by students’ perception that mathematical word problems are difficult to solve, particularly due to difficulties in constructing mathematical models from the given problems. This study aimed to describe students’ perceptions of mathematical modeling learning on arithmetic sequence material. The method used was descriptive research with quantitative and qualitative approaches. The research subjects consisted of 28 students of class XI.3 at SMAN 1 Indralaya. Data were collected through test questions, questionnaires, and interviews with perception indicators including the ease and usefulness of the stages of mathematical modeling. The questionnaire results showed that 14.29% of students had very good perceptions, 46.43% good, 39.29% moderate, and 0% poor. The results of the tests and interviews indicated that students with very good and good perceptions considered the stages of mathematical modeling helpful in solving arithmetic sequence word problems, while students with moderate perceptions had not fully experienced this ease. Therefore, mathematical modeling–based learning can be implemented continuously in mathematics learning while still paying attention to strengthening students’ conceptual understanding and accuracy.
