HUBUNGAN PERSEPSI KEPERCAYAAN DALAM PEMBERIAN ASI EKSLUSIF PENCEGAHAN STUNTING DI KABUPATEN BANYUASIN

Stunting remains a major public health concern in Indonesia. This condition is characterized by impaired growth in children due to chronic malnutrition, recurrent infections, and suboptimal caregiving practices. One of the key interventions proven to prevent stunting is the provision of exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life. This study aims to analyze the relationship between mothers’ perception of confidence in exclusive breastfeeding and the prevention of stunting in Banyuasin Regency. This research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 108 mothers with children aged 6–24 months, selected through proportional stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi�Square test. The results showed that 63 respondents (58.3%) did not provide exclusive breastfeeding, while 45 respondents (41.7%) did. Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between mothers’ perception of confidence and the practice of exclusive breastfeeding (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that positive maternal perceptions regarding the benefits of breastfeeding contribute to consistent exclusive breastfeeding practices, which play an important role in stunting prevention. Therefore, efforts to enhance health education, strengthen family support, and implement regional policies promoting exclusive breastfeeding are essential in accelerating stunting reduction in Banyuasin Regency. .
