PERBANDINGAN KINERJA TURBIN ANGIN VERTIKAL SAVONIUS GEAR MAGNETIK DENGAN GUIDE VANES DAN TANPA GUIDE VANES BERDASARKAN PUTARAN (RPM) DAN DAYA KELUARAN

Rizal, Khairul - Personal Name;

The Savonius wind turbine is a type of vertical axis wind turbine capable of operating at low wind speeds; however, it still has limitations in terms of aerodynamic performance and power output. This study aims to analyze the effect of guide vanes on the performance of a magnetic gear-based Savonius wind turbine in terms of rotational speed (RPM), output power, and system efficiency. An experimental method was employed by comparing a configuration without guide vanes and configurations with guide vane angles of 30°, 45°, and 60° at wind speeds of 4 m/s, 5 m/s, and 6 m/s. The measured parameters included rotational speed (RPM), voltage, current, and output power using a tachometer, INA219 sensor, and ESP32. The results indicate that all guide vane configurations produced higher RPM values compared to the configuration without guide vanes. The 45° guide vane configuration exhibited the best overall performance by providing a better combination of RPM improvement, output power enhancement, and performance stability at low to moderate wind speeds. In the field test, the 45° guide vane configuration generated an average output power of 0.191 W, which was higher than that of the configuration without guide vanes at 0.081 W. However, the average system efficiency obtained with guide vanes was 11.65%, which was lower than that of the configuration without guide vanes at 12.45%. These findings indicate that the use of guide vanes is more effective in improving the operational performance of the turbine than in enhancing overall system efficiency.
