ANALISIS KINERJA PSEUDO DIRECT-DRIVE GENERATOR PADA TURBIN SAVONIUS DENGAN VARIASI SUDUT GUIDE VANES
The utilization of wind energy as a renewable energy source continues to be developed to improve the efficiency of electricity generation. One of the challenges in Wind Power Plants (WPPs) is the mechanical losses and rotational load caused by conventional transmission systems and generators. One approach to overcoming these issues is the implementation of a Pseudo Direct-Drive (PDD) system, which combines a magnetic gear and a permanent magnet generator without direct mechanical contact. This study investigates the performance of a Pseudo Direct-Drive generator on a Savonius generatore equipped with guide vanes at angles of 30° and 45° under wind speed variations ranging from 4 to 6 m/s.The experimental results show that the 45° guide vane configuration provides the best performance, achieving a maximum generator speed of 1360.2 rpm, a maximum voltage of 8.14 V, a maximum power output of 1.66 W, and a maximum torque of 0.01244 Nm. In addition, the implementation of the PDD system was able to limit the reduction in generatore rotational speed when connected to the generator, resulting in an average speed reduction of approximately 17.86%.The results indicate that the application of a Pseudo Direct-Drive generator combined with guide vanes can improve the performance of a Savonius generatore in generating electrical energy. This improvement is influenced by the ability of the magnetic gear to transmit torque without direct mechanical contact, thereby reducing friction losses, as well as the capability of the guide vanes to direct airflow more effectively, increasing generatore rotational speed and generator output.
