ANALISIS NARATIF KONTEN #BOOKTOK PADA AKUN @VELSJOURNAL DI TIKTOK

Aulia, Dewi Ayu - Personal Name;

Reading literacy in Indonesia still faces serious challenges. Although the level of reading interest has increased, deep reading practices remain low and are confronted with the fast-paced culture of digital media consumption. In this context, TikTok has opened a new space for promoting reading literacy through the #BookTok phenomenon, where book-related content is presented in a concise, personal, and engaging way. One notable creator is @velsjournal, who consistently delivers book recommendations through emotional narratives that resonate with the audience’s experiences. This study aims to examine how book-themed narratives are constructed by @velsjournal on TikTok. It employs a qualitative approach using content analysis of 10 videos with the highest engagement in the Bookish Talk playlist. The analysis is based on Walter Fisher’s narrative paradigm through the dimensions of coherence and fidelity, further enriched by the concept of digital storytelling. The findings show that @velsjournal’s digital narratives are delivered through the use of hooks in the form of questions that stimulate audience curiosity (dramatic questions), such as “books that make me feel lost in my 20s,” which are consistently used across the 10 analyzed videos. The narratives are then developed through engagement by presenting experiences that are relevant to the audience’s lives, creating a sense of connection and strengthening the meaning of the message. This connection reflects narrative fidelity, while the logical and structured organization of the narrative demonstrates coherence, making the message more credible and easier to understand.
