KRITIK SOSIAL DALAM NOVEL TERSESAT SETELAH TERLAHIR KEMBALI KARYA YOGA ZEN: KAJIAN SOSIOLOGI SASTRA DAN IMPLIKASINYA TERHADAP PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA INDONESIA
This study aims to analyze the social criticism embedded in Yoga Zen's novel Tersesat Setelah Terlahir Kembali through the lens of literary sociology, particularly Alan Swingewood's theoretical framework. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with the novel itself serving as the primary data source. The findings reveal three main points. First, the novel functions as a mirror of society, reflecting various social realities such as poverty, gender inequality, and weak law enforcement, particularly within rural community settings. Second, the novel demonstrates that literature is an integral part of social structure; the characters are shaped by prevailing social systems including patriarchal culture, economic pressure, and political power, resulting in conflicts that are not merely personal but also structural in nature. Third, the novel carries an ideological dimension in the form of critical ideas against social injustice; through its narrative and conflicts, the author invites readers to become aware of existing inequalities in society. These three perspectives are interconnected and mutually reinforcing, suggesting that the social criticism in the novel not only reflects reality but also serves as a response to unjust social structures and a vehicle for conveying critical ideas to readers. This study has implications for Indonesian language learning, particularly in teaching novel analysis at the senior high school level, as this novel is relevant as instructional material capable of developing students' critical thinking skills and fostering their ability to connect literary texts with real-life social contexts. Keywords: social criticism, sociology of literature, Indonesian language learning.
