EMOSI TOKOH DALAM NOVEL JANJI KARYA TERE LIYE: KAJIAN PSIKOLOGI SASTRA DAN IMPLIKASINYA TERHADAP PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA INDONESIA

Urmila, Lia - Personal Name;

This study aims to describe the forms and classifications of character emotions in the novel Janji by Tere Liye and to analyze their implications for Indonesian Language learning in senior high school (SMA). This study employs a literary psychology approach with a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through the read-and-note technique, and data validity was established through persistent observation, referential adequacy, and investigator triangulation. The theoretical framework used is David Krech’s (1969) emotion classification, which divides emotions into four categories: (1) basic emotions (joy, anger, fear, grief); (2) emotions triggered by sensory stimulation (pain, disgust, delights); (3) emotions related to self-assessment (feelings success and failure, pride and shame, guilt and remorse); and (4) emotions related to others (love and hate). The findings reveal that a total of 88 emotional data points were identified in the novel Janji. The basic emotions category was the most dominant, accounting for 54 data points, followed by emotions triggered by sensory stimulation with 15 data items, emotions related to self-assessment with 10 data points, and emotions related to others with 9 data points. The character of Bahar demonstrates the highest emotional complexity, as he experiences nearly all emotional categories. The implications of this study for Indonesian Language learning in senior high school indicate that character emotion analysis based on David Krech’s theory can be integrated into Novel Appreciation learning within the Merdeka Curriculum, Phase F.
