ANALISIS PERBANDINGAN BEBERAPA SIFAT FISIKA TANAH BERDASARKAN UMUR TANAMAN KELAPA SAWIT (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.)
This study aims to analyze the comparison of several soil physical properties at two different ages of oil palm plants. The study was conducted at a plantation owned by CV. Patra Agro Sawit with observations of soil physical properties including bulk density and total pore space. Soil sampling was carried out by purposive sampling on 5-year and 20-year-old oil palm plants. The soil samples were then analyzed at the Soil Department Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The results showed that the bulk density value at both plant ages was relatively low, with an average of 0.90 g/cm³ in 5-year-old plants and 0.88 g/cm³ in 20-year-old plants. The total pore space value of both plant ages was classified as good, with an average of 66% at 5-year-old plants and 67% at 20-year-old plants. In general, differences in oil palm plant age affect the distribution of soil pores. However, the soil physical condition at both plant ages was still relatively good and able to support optimal oil palm growth.
